Valyermo is an unincorporated community located in the Mojave Desert in the southeastern Antelope Valley. The community has a population of about 450. It is located 17 miles southeast of Palmdale. The properties in Valyermo have wells and septic systems. Some are “off the grid” with generators or solar for electricity.
Valyermo is a contraction of the Spanish words “valle yermo” or “barren valley”. The Valyermo Valley is far from barren with agriculture and ranches. Saint Andrew’s Abbey is a Roman Catholic monastary (Benedictine) located in the foothills of Valyermo.
